Hello, Berries!
Today is a sick day, so I figured I'll take this time to blog.
^.^
I'm pretty sure this sicky feelings is from all the pollen
floating around East Texas.
Several of my friends are feeling poo, too.
And, boy, do I need a day to just rest!
I'm having to put my perfectionism to one side to do it, though-
I haven't practiced in over a week!
The week before last was my birth week-
I'm a spring baby ^.^
and last week, spring break,
my band traveled to the Bahamas.
I am obviously quite a home body,
so that spring break wasn't what I call "relaxing".
It was so much fun, but it wore me out!
So, birthdays in my family are pretty much done like Christmas:
we get some money to buy what we like.
Thrifting- yay!
I also took the rest of the money on the band trip
for souvenirs and such.
The thrift trips were uber successful! Yay!
I found two more Lord of the Rings goblets :D
I already have the Frodo goblet at home
that my parents got me from a yard sale when I was
in high school.
Now Arwen and Aragorn are added to the growing collection ^.^
Neither of them came with the light up base or the box,
so I just threw away the base to the Frodo goblet, so they all match.
It's not to my taste anyway...
In the same trip, my Mommy found me this candle ring.
It now adorns my bed post. ^.^
And the piece de resistance of this Goodwill run...
Tadaa!
Old corbels!
They are so gorgeous...
I have my Mommy to thank for these.
I found them and gave them to her,
and she gave them back.
They are so beautiful!
The goblets and candle ring were a dollar a piece,
and the corbels were $4 for the set, all from Goodwill.
What a deal!
Happy Birthday to me!
My daddy gave me a dozen roses for my birthday as well.
<3
Honestly, flowers are my favorite gifts to receive.
Flowers and tea.
Thank you, Daddy Goo!
I was very surprised to find that my family weren't the only ones
who wanted to celebrate my birthday...
A couple of girls in my dorm gave me a gift-
which I love!
They are actually the only ones who gave me a bagged
birthday gift, which was so thoughtful.
<3
The first thing is this sweet little bunny, below...
I find that ironic- In middle school,
the group I hung out with called me Usagi
(meaning bunny in Japanese; one of the girls was Japanese,
and they were all into anime and manga and various Japany things.)
because they said I sounded like Thumper from Bambi...
... The bunny they gifted me looks a lot like Thumper,
which took me back to that memory.
They don't even know me well, so they don't know that story. Haha >.<
They also gifted me a "Beach Waves" candle (love candles!)
and this coffee mug that I now use every day for just about every beverage I consume :3
Not to mention the absolutely precious pink and gold packaging.
They nailed my aesthetic. Thank you, guys! <3 <3 <3
On my actual birthday,
one of my girlfriends took me and a couple other buddies
out to dinner and frozen yogurt.
Later that week, I walked all over town with another girlfriend;
we got our nails done together and went to an antique shop and Goodwill;
she bought me a little pink puff keychain,
a bedside scripture book,
an antique- looking cameo ring
and the cutest vintage clutch purse!
It was so unexpected.
That night we were treated to dinner by another sweet friend,
who took us afterward to watch October Baby.
I was very blessed that week...
Still am!
On a separate birth week thrift trip,
I bought this set of the Lucy Show from Goodwill.
I had picked it up to buy it the week before,
but when the lady said it was $4, I put it back.
I'm glad it was still there when I had the money to get it!
^.^
Below are some finds from the pumpkin carriage place,
from another birthday thrift excursion.
I do not remember the exact amount,
but I do remember it being under $10 total...
The one thing I picked up from this trip
that I was actually looking for is a little ottoman
that I could cover with the green pillowcase.
I don't have any pictures yet...
but I will when I cover it up all cute! ^.^
Anyhoo, as for the trinkets from this trip,
I got this plume pen set, still in the box.
It was made in 1977, which can't be counted
as vintage since it's younger than my mom ;)
It is still so adorable, and perfect for the theme
happening in my shop room right now. ;D
I also found a glass dish I was planning on using
to hold my cream and sugar bowls,
but alas,
it is too small. :(
In it is an ironstone coffee cup, and next to it
is a blue bowl that matches the shape of an amber one
that I keep my jewelry in.
I know it's bad grammar to say "really" a whole lot-
but imma be real-
Dude, I really like this!
I see them in vintage shops quite often going
for $12 and up, which is ridiculous.
I got mine for super cheap! :D
I also got these flowers and this picture below from that trip.
(and some more flowers I didn't take pictures of >.< )
I saw the picture on the way out of the shop,
and went back to the register to pay for it.
I am so glad I did.
It's my favorite find from that trip.
It is three ink drawings of early motor cars.
The paper is so old it's almost brown, and the painted frame is
faded and chipping- I love it.
I use it on my bed as just a decorative tray.
<3 Aesthetic. <3
I also found another VHS tape
from Disney's Masterpiece Collection.
I'm one step closer to catching them all!
Here are some purchases from the last thrift trip of my birthday week,
the one to an antique shop and Goodwill with my friend...
At the antique shop, I actually found a good deal!:
this wooden box of old silverware!
It was $20, and the box contained 29 pieces of silver
and silver plated utensils.
I took these four pieces below out for myself,
which leaves me with 25 left to sell in my shop room.
Even if I sold the silverware at a dollar a piece
(which I probably will),
I will make a profit of $5,
which is great for me!
Five bucks goes a long, long way at the pumpkin carriage ;D
From Goodwill, I got this pincushion for the shop for a dollar
and the brown hydrangeas shown above, above
(yes I meant to put that twice >.< ) for a dollar also.
I bought a cardigan as well, but it shrunk in the dryer. :(
When the band went on the trip,
I got some souvenirs, as you see below ^.^
The tissue box holder, the seashell with the Lord's prayer
written on it and the decorative box are from Freeport, Bahamas.
The tin of tea is from Nassau,
and it is a gift from one of my stateroomies ^.^
The marble- looking coasters and essential oils
are just from a Marshall's and Home Goods store in Miami.
Also, on the right, is the vintage clutch purse I mentioned earlier.
<3
I'm going to start hunting for them on my thrift trips. I'm hooked!
I got this hair wrap done in Freeport, too,
and the sweater below is from the cruise ship's gift shop ^.^
This box of tea is my favorite thing from the trip...
Who would've guessed--
organic British tea sold in a gift shop in Nassau, Bahamas...
Out of the six types of teas in the tin,
I've tried the Lemongrass, Ginger and Citrus one,
and earlier today I enjoyed a cup of White Tea, Blueberry and Elderflower.
I'm trying to limit myself...
They're so special, and I want to make them last...
So when I make a cup,
I'll make sure I have time to sit down
in my cute little haven
and enjoy it...
Let's finish this post up with a DIY project I took on during my birth week. (:
These babies were a lot more time consuming than I imagined they'd be!
To find out how to make them,
I typed in "DIY cardboard stars" on YouTube,
and clicked on the tree topper tutorial by Sea Lemon.
The instructions were easy to follow;
she just made it look a lot less messy than it actually is! >.<
I got gold paint and hot glue everywhere!
I made five of them out of music library boxes;
I glued them together with a hot glue gun,
painted them with a coat of gold paint
and a coat of gold glitter,
and sprinkled some loose glitter on.
Then I just glued on some fishing line
to hang them from the ceiling.
They turned out quite magical,
but in my dorm, hanging things from the ceiling isn't allowed.
So I'll have to find a way to hang them from the ceiling at home...
(:
Well, Berries,
Thanks for reading my ramblings!
I sure had a lot happen in the month of March.
I still have much, much left
to type about!
Until next time,
Lots of Love,
