Dorm Room Planning and Pennant Bannering

Hello, Berries!

I was not expecting to blog again this soon,
but I am in the mood today!

So, an exciting thing happened yesterday,
for both my roomie and me.

We had coffee and a chat with our dorm mum
(or more appropriately, dorm grandmum),
and Feffy (which is my roommate) gets to move into her own room
after Thanksgiving break!

This was exciting for both of us,
since we are both introverts who like personal spaces.

We giggled like little girls! ^.^

Of course, this got me to planning what
I was going to do with the room in its entirety when she moves.

I love doing this kind of thing.
When I was in the 8th grade, I wanted to be an interior designer,
so I drew aerial sketches a lot.

Some kids in my class asked me to design their rooms, too.
I had a ball with it.
I obviously still do! lol

So, now, I have planned out what I will make this room look like
for next semester.

I am so excited!

I wanted to do something different from last year,
in a better more homey kind of way,
and I have figured it out!

So, (I start a lot of sentences with "so"...),
each dorm room comes with two sets of furniture,
a bed, a desk and a dresser for each side.

Last year,
I utilized both sets of furniture.

Next semester, (EEK ^.^)
I will move the extra dresser into the closet,
and the extra desk under the extra bed,
leaving me with two beds,
a desk I will use for my little kitchen area
and a dresser I will use for my T.V. and movies.

The dresser in the closet will be for my clothes.

This way I get to bring in a nice coffee table
for a little more warmth and a few extra pretties-
also for my puzzles,
which are stiffening to do in two square feet of floor.

I might also bring in a couple more pieces
alongside my queen anne chair and side table.

I love making my room pretty and cozy!

Speaking of,
I did a little DIY this past week. (;

I took an old book (one with an ugly cover I didn't mind ruining, of course),
from a thrift store and made a pennant banner out of it. :D

First, I completely destroyed the book. lol
I folded up the cover to make a triangle,
then I traced it onto stacks of pages and cut them out.

A friend of mine gave me some fishing line,
which I measured out and taped to the tops of the triangles.

Then I folded the tops of the triangles over the fishing line
to make them look a little neater.

I would have taken more pictures,
but the plumber came in to fix the bathtub when I was doing this. lol

I was caught a little off guard.

Here it is all finished.
Tadaa!

I'm proud of it. ^.^
The book I made it with is about spiritual gifts.
I think that's pretty cool.

Well, I'm gonna go do some more daydreaming now. ^.^

Thank you for stopping by,
and have an amazing day!

Almost There

I have a goal.

It sounds simple.
I want to be not only content,
but amazingly and beautifully joyful
in the present.

It sounds simple, but it takes a lot of strength.
It takes putting on my armor of God
and fighting the culture I live in.

I am almost there.

So, guys, before I post some pictures of my half room
(I have a roomie this semester),
let me tell you where I am going after I graduate in May.

I am embarking on the World Race!

The World Race is an 11 month mission trip to 11 different countries,
meeting specific needs in each country.

You can find out more at:

For those 11 months, I will not be active at all on this blog,
because I obviously won't be thrifting. lol
BUT, you will be able to see and read about
the journey God is carrying me through at

You can also donate to my trip
(please pray about doing that.)
at that same website (:

It is very crazy,
and very impossible,
but my God will make it happen.
It is what he has called me to do.

So, as I said,
this semester I have a roommate,
so I have tried my best to take pictures that disclude
her half of the room.

Instead of just sharing one big room like normal people,
we used our desks and chairs to create a divider to make two smaller rooms.

This way, I get the illusion of my own space...

I made this banner inspired by one of my life songs right now,
Take Courage by Bethel.

The chorus says,

"Take courage, my heart.
Stay steadfast, my soul.
He's in the waiting;
He's in the waiting.
Hold onto your hope.
Watch your triumph unfold.
He's never failing;
He's never failing."

Amen!

God has been teaching me and testing me and building me and likening me
in this season.
Sometimes it's hard to see why he does what he does,
but the word says in 1Peter
That faith that still stands after being tested
has more value than gold.
It is priceless.

Through this season,
God is showing me by trial and perseverance
just how precious my faith is...

So, soon
(because I get to go home in less than two weeks!!!),
I will be taking pictures of little piles of thrifty things I've collected
throughout the semester--
aside from the decorations that are already adorning my half room.

I hope I get to post those pictures soon, Berries!

Above and below, the picture frame you see
and the gorgeous swag of berries you see
have both been recently thrifted by yours truly.

The frame was in a fill-a-trashbag-for-five-dollars,
and the clusters of berries were 6 for $.50 at a different thrift store.

I  threw these two toile-looking tiles in the fill-a-bag as well
to use as coasters. (:

The painted wooden box below was also snatched up at the
fill-a-bag store for $3 on its own.
So worth it!
I love it. It's amazing.

There is a lot of good change coming...
*wink, wink*
I am so excited about how God is working!

Praise Jesus, y'all!

Thank you so much for stopping by,
and I will post again within the next couple of months ;)
