Minimizing, Maximizing and Moving!

Hey there, Berries! Hope you've all had a good week!

Yesterday I got to make a short trip home to take a load
of my things from the dorm...

It was so cool to see all my trinkets together in boxes...

My mommy surprised me when I got home with these adorable
miniature cookie cutters!
What a great addition to my cute lil' pile of pretties!
Thanks, Mom! <3

While I was home, I did some more rearranging and decorating and fiddling...
Surprise, surprise!

I have been narrowing down my pretty things, however,
to only the ones I think are absolutely beautiful on their own...

... And I do not regret it at all! (:

Here are some pretties in a bookshelf that I scored at a yard sale for $8.97!

It's an odd price, but since bookshelves are so difficult to come by,
I dished out all the money I had in my wallet!

What's crazy is that I found another bookshelf the next day!

It was shoved in a corner of a thrift store with stacks of picture frames inside...

... And when I asked if it was for sale, the lady said I could have it for $8.00!

I don't have any pictures of that one yet, but there will be plenty to come!

I plan on bringing it up to my dorm room and decorating it here.
It's short and fat, so it's the perfect size,
and it's also a dark stained wood, which will add more warmth to my little safe haven.

I thank God so much for these shelves...

He knows I have been on the hunt for them. (:

In only two days, I will be home again with the candles burning...

... Records turning...

... Kitties purring...

But in the meantime, I will enjoy the serenity of my special little dorm room,
my diamond in the rough.

Don't forget to enjoy where you are at in life in the moment.
Weather Christmastime brings you grief or peace,
Stress or stillness,
I pray that precious memories will be made.

Until next time,
Lots of Love,

Christmas Knick Knacks and College Vacations!

"Harriet burst into tears. She ran to her mother and cried very hard.
'I felt awful. I felt awful,' was all she could say.
Her mother hugged her and kissed her a lot.
The more she hugged her, the better Harriet felt.
She was still being hugged when her father came home.
He hugged her too even though he didn't know
what it was all about."
- Harriet the Spy

I just finished reading this book last night, and I cried at that part.
It reminded me of what amazing parents I have.

Anywhoo!
Over Thanksgiving break, I sparkled up my room at home
with Christmas decorations!

I used mainly purples and pinks this year.

And a whole lot of teacups, per the norm...

I love to put things in and around them...

It makes the whole spot much more exciting to look at.

All the little cubby holes are a Christmas feast for the eyes!

I got this shelf for three dollars at a thrift store.
With the help of my mom, all the goops of paint got stripped off,
and I sanded it down and gave it a beautiful walnut stain.

The hard work paid off!
During the break, aside from decorating, I read a lot...

... with the kitty cats by my side of course!
And now I am back in my dorm room!

I love it here, but I am ready for finals to end and Christmas break to begin!
Today I got a little break from the stress.
In between marching two Christmas parades (I'm in the band),
my mom came over, and we went to a thrift shop here in town...

... Where I picked up these Christmas treasures for my dorm!
... Or for the house...
Well, wherever I like them is where they will go!
I also scored this. I've been wanting to watch it
again for quite a while, and now I can!

Man, oh man, am I looking forward to down time,
and I hope you get some for the Holidays, too!
Until next time,
Lots of Love,

Welcome to my first blog post!

Welcome to my first blog post!
A little bit about me:
=^.^=
My Name is Megan, I am nineteen years old, and I am in college
getting a music degree.
I am a daughter of God!
I have five beautiful kitties.
I also have a passion for thrifting for things I think are beautiful
or things I believe have the potential to be beautiful.
Over the Thanksgiving Holidays, a camera that I ordered
came in the mail.
It is a very nice camera, so as you can imagine,
I took pictures of everything,
and I thought,
"I want to start a blog."
So here I am!
I'm going out on a limb doing this,
but my creativity- anyone's creativity- is something to express, not to hide.
I hope y'all will enjoy seeing it as much as I enjoy
expressing it!
Lots of Love,
